How do you make learning visible in your classroom? How do students showcase their learning and engage in continual self-reflection and growth?

As British Columbia’s new K-12 Student Reporting Policy aptly states, “Self-reflection and goal setting are important parts of learning and development. Giving students a voice in their learning helps ensure that teachers, parents and caregivers can support students in achieving their goals” (K-12 Student Reporting Policy). This quote resonates across Canada — we all have the shared goal of supporting student success.

Through the use of Portfolios in All About Me and Education Planner, students are able to document their learning and critically reflect. Scroll down to the bottom of today’s blog post to learn more!

Title: Making Learning Visible

Evidence shows that the greatest effects on student learning come when not only do the students become their own teachers (through self-monitoring and self-assessment), but the teachers become learners of their own teaching. In successful classrooms, both teaching and learning are visible” (Visible Learning for Teachers: Maximizing the Impact on Learning: Chapter 2, by John Hattie).

Through the use of Portfolios in Education Planner, students are able to document their learning and critically reflect. As educators, you can provide timely feedback and celebrate student success along the way.
